On April 8, U.S. College Students' Mathematical Contest in Modeling (MCM) of 2017 and the Interdisciplinary Mathematical Contest in Modeling (MCM/ICM) published results: the team of Guizhou Education University won the first prize (Meritorious Winner).This is the second time for the students of our university to participate in the MCM/ICM and win the honor.
Under the guidance of Dr Liao Yumei, a professor from School of Mathematics and Computer Science, two students named Liu Songqin(majoring in statistics) and Xiao Jian (majoring in applied mathematics) from Grade 2014 and one student named Mao Qi (majoring in computer science and technology-big data direction) from Grade 2015 made a team and won the first prize. Their subject is Sustainable Cities Needed! This subject mainly solves the problem of global smart city growth and urban space resource utilization.
The other team won the third prize (Successful Participant). It is made up of three students majoring in statistics of Grade 2014: Xiong Qianlong, Huang Wenwen, and Luo Yan. Their project is Cooperate and Navigate, mainly to solve the problem of the current urban traffic capacity and road network settings.
