On the morning of June 6, 2026, a delegation visited our university, including Ou Bolai (Member of the Standing Committee of the Guizhou Provincial Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) in Macao, President of the Guizhou General Association of Macao), Nong Yunqi (Vice-Rector of the University of Saint Joseph, Macao), Kong Xianglong (Director of the Third Division of the United Front Work Department of the Guizhou Provincial Party Committee), and Ye Sen (Director of the International Division of the Guizhou Provincial Department of Education). Our university was represented by President Wang Shuqian, Zhao Shouying (Member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee of GZEU, Vice President at the Director-General level), Zhang Ting (Member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee of GZEU, Head of the United Front Work Department, Dean of the School of Continuing Education), and Zhang Bin (Director of the International Office (Hong Kong, Macao & Taiwan Affairs Office)), who warmly received the visiting guests. The signing ceremony for the sister university cooperation agreement between the two institutions was held in the second-floor conference room of the Information Building and was presided over by Zhang Ting.
During the ceremony, President Wang Shuqian delivered a welcome address. On behalf of all faculty and students, she extended a warm welcome and sincere gratitude to the guests. She noted that the two universities have a long-standing and profound relationship. Since 2024, with the meticulous guidance and strong support from leaders on all sides, the two universities have maintained a positive momentum of frequent exchanges, in-depth coordination, and pragmatic cooperation. In April of this year, a delegation led by Vice-Rector Nong Yunqi visited our university, and both sides reached an important consensus to move from a framework cooperation towards a comprehensive strategic partnership and to elevate the relationship to a sister university status. The official signing of the agreement today is a significant milestone in the history of the collaboration between the two universities. She expressed that in the future, the two universities will rely on the institutional cooperation platform and the national-level Chinese language education base to deepen academic exchanges and research collaboration, leverage Macao's geographical advantages, solidify the foundation for cultural and educational exchanges between Guizhou and Macao, jointly promote the integration of higher education between Guizhou and Macao, and draw a new blueprint for coordinated regional educational development.
In her speech, Vice-Rector Nong Yunqi reviewed the history of friendly interactions between the two universities. She stated that the recent in-depth exchanges with our university facilitated the rapid signing of the sister university agreement, fully demonstrating the importance and trust both sides place in the partnership. The University of Saint Joseph will actively cooperate to jointly cultivate talents for the new era who possess patriotic sentiment, professional competence, innovative spirit, and a sense of responsibility. She looks forward to taking this signing as a new starting point for deeper cooperation in areas such as academic exchanges, cultural mutual learning, and interactions among faculty, students, and alumni.
Ou Bolai expressed in his speech that he was delighted to witness the two universities become sister universities. He expressed his continued willingness to act as a bridge, promoting the complementarity of resources between the two regions, and wished for fruitful outcomes from the cooperation.
Kong Xianglong extended congratulations on the successful establishment of the sister university relationship. He hoped that both sides would take this signing as an opportunity to broaden the dimensions of cultural and educational collaboration between Guizhou and Macao, focus on the bigger picture of this collaboration, and make greater contributions to cultural exchanges between the two regions.
Ye Sen noted that the Provincial Department of Education has consistently actively supported the cooperation between the two universities. He emphasized that this signing is an important outcome of the mutual trust and efficient communication between the two parties. He highlighted that Guizhou places great importance on educational opening-up and encourages and supports the two universities to further explore in-depth cooperation models, such as Sino-foreign cooperative education, based on the existing foundation. The Provincial Department of Education will continue to provide guidance and coordination, offering comprehensive support in policy alignment, resource coordination, and platform building, to help the two universities jointly cultivate high-quality talents with patriotic sentiment, international vision, and innovative ability, setting an example for Guizhou's international educational exchanges and cooperation.
Finally, Zhao Shouying and Nong Yunqi, witnessed by the attendees, signed the sister university cooperation agreement. Also present at the signing ceremony were 18 representatives of alumni, faculty, and students from the University of Saint Joseph; from our university: Huang Dan (Party Secretary and Dean of the School of Business), Nie Sen (Party Deputy Secretary and Dean of the School of Fine Arts and Design), Song Wanyao (Dean of the School of Education Science), Xiong Weicheng (Dean of the School of Mathematics and Big Data), Lin Jing (Division Head at the Director-General Level, United Front Work Department), Qiu Qin (Party Deputy Secretary of the School of Fine Arts and Design), along with staff from relevant university departments.
The successful conclusion of this sister university signing ceremony marks an escalation in exchanges between the two universities, moving from a framework consensus to a formal agreement, and signifies that inter-university cooperation has officially entered a new stage of normalized, deep-level, and coordinated development.
