General Information

School of Foreign Languages (hereafter as SFL) of Gui Zhou  Education University was founded in 1978, teachers in the SFL have rich experiences in English teaching. Since its establishment, SFL has been committed to cultivating and training teachers of secondary and primary schools. SFL has provided thousands of qualified secondary and primary schools’ English teachers and made a great contribution to fundamental English education in Guizhou province. In recent years, SFL has made great progress in major settings, teachers building, teaching and research level. School scale has been expanding. There are regular full-time associate-degree programs (three-year- study), full-time adult undergraduate programs and associate-degree programs , adult amateur undergraduate programs and associate-degree programs .

SFL has a group of young teachers who have high academic level, excellent teaching ability. There are 33 staffs, 24 full-time teachers, including two professors, 5 associate professors, 14 lecturers, 4 teaching assistants, 21 teachers with a master’s degree. In terms of age structure, there are 5 teachers over 50 years old, 4 teachers over 40 years old, and the rest are under 40 years old. The age structure of teachers is reasonable. Our teachers have graduated from different universities, including Nanjing University, Wuhan University, Tianjin Foreign Studies University, Sichuan International Studies University. Five teachers have studied in foreign countries. SFL has great potential of long stable development and is able to undertake the tough task of training more and better English professionals to make due contributions to economic construction and social development.

SFL caters to the actual needs of social development and adds some practical courses to the existing traditional curriculum, such as “The Comparison between Chinese and American Culture”, “Survey of Britain and America”, “Oral Communication in English”, “Primary and Secondary School Classroom Oral English Practice”, “English Newspaper and Magazine Reading” and so on. According to the different needs of society, SFL increases or decreases related courses timely with a view to achieving better results and meet the practical needs of social development so that our students can better adapt to the needs of social development and become multi-skilled practical English talent.
