Shi Peixin, Party Secretary of Our University, Leads a Delegation to Visit Thailand and Malaysia for Educational Exchanges

  On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Malaysia and the upcoming 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Thailand, as well as the start of the next golden decade of the "Belt and Road Initiative" and the 10th anniversary of the cooperation agreement signed between our university and the Ministry of Education of Thailand, in order to further enhance international exchanges, expand overseas educational resources and improve the internationalization level of the university, from November 28th to December 5th, Shi Peixin, Party Secretary of the university, led a delegation to conduct visits and exchanges with universities and educational institutions such as the Ministry of Education of Thailand, Kasetsart University of Thailand, the Malaysia China Education Association and Sultan Idris University of Education in Malaysia, and visited our university's interns in Thailand. The delegation signed a number of agreements, reached a number of consensuses and achieved a number of important, characteristic and feasible visit results. Luo Guangjie, Director of the Research Department of the University, Xiao Xiangping, Party Secretary of the School of Educational Science, Yang Bo, Dean of the School of Literature and Media, Zhang Bin, Deputy Director of the Office of Foreign Exchange and Cooperation, and Zhang Yu, Associate Professor of the School of Foreign Languages, accompanied the visit.


At the Ministry of Education of Thailand, Phichet Phophakdee, the Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Education of Thailand, highly affirmed the construction achievements since the signing of the cooperation agreement between the two sides and expressed gratitude to our university for sending outstanding students to Thailand for internships for ten consecutive years. Phichet Phophakdee introduced the development concept of basic education in Thailand, as well as reform measures such as the application of artificial intelligence to basic education and the implementation of all-Chinese teaching in some subjects, and hoped that the two sides could continue to deepen exchanges and achieve win-win cooperation. Shi Peixin reviewed the development process of the internship agreement signed between the university and the Ministry of Education of Thailand in the past ten years and introduced the university's orientation, major settings and discipline construction. The two sides reached an agreement on deepening cooperation in various aspects such as the holding of large-scale forum competitions, the selection of interns and the reform and research of basic education by taking the opportunity of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Thailand and the platform of the ASEAN Education Week. At the Ministry of Education of Thailand, Shi Peixin and his delegation held a discussion with the interns in Thailand. Five interns majoring in Chinese International Education and Musicology reported on their teaching and living conditions since arriving in Thailand. Shi Peixin highly praised the internship performance of the students and instructed them to do their internships seriously, learn something and pay attention to safety.


During the visit to Malaysia, Shi Peixin and his delegation visited the Malaysia China Education Association and Sultan Idris University of Education. Jiang Zhongqi, President of the Malaysia China Education Association, introduced the main responsibilities and work contents of the association. The two sides hoped to further cooperate in overseas Chinese learning, international conferences and competitions, and joint research and development in the field of artificial intelligence. At Sultan Idris University of Education in Malaysia, the delegation held discussions with Dr. Ridzwan bin Che Rus, Director of the International Office of the university, and the heads of the School of Language and Communication, the School of Science and Mathematics and other faculties, and signed a memorandum of cooperation intention. The two sides will carry out practical cooperation in scientific research, teacher training and student cultivation, which also marks the first cooperation between our university and a public university in Malaysia.


During the stay in Thailand, the delegation also visited the Confucius Institute at Chulalongkorn University, Dhurakij Pundit University, Kasetsart University and Rajamangala University of Technology Srivijaya. At the Confucius Institute at Chulalongkorn University, Han Shenglong, the Chinese Director, introduced the development history and achievements of the institute to the delegation, and the two sides conducted in-depth discussions on overseas Chinese education and international cultural exchanges. At Dhurakij Pundit University, the delegation visited the International Student Affairs Center and the University History Museum. Siridech Kumsuprom, Vice President of Dhurakij Pundit University, introduced the basic situation of the university to the delegation. The two sides signed a formal cooperation memorandum and made specific arrangements for student exchanges, scientific research cooperation and project collaboration. At Kasetsart University, Apisit Songsasen, Vice President of the university, introduced the professional and disciplinary characteristics of Kasetsart University in forestry, environmental protection and land management. The two sides signed a cooperation memorandum and reached a consensus on jointly building a "Belt and Road Initiative" joint laboratory. At the same time, the two sides exchanged in-depth views on the exchanges of scientific and technological personnel, student exchanges, the sustainable development of regional basins and the exchanges and interactions of humanities. At Rajamangala University of Technology Srivijaya, Xie Fei, Deputy Director of the Foreign Affairs of the International Education Center of the university, led the delegation to visit the University History Museum and the library and introduced the historical evolution, major and discipline construction and international student enrollment of the university. The two sides conducted in-depth exchanges on the cultivation of normal students and the sharing and co-construction of humanities.


The visit of the delegation lasted for 8 days with a tight schedule and fruitful results, which is of great significance for improving the internationalization ability of the university, expanding the fields of international cooperation, deepening the school-running orientation of "application-oriented, teacher-training and open", and continuously enhancing the international influence and competitiveness of the university.
