President Wei Wei Leads Delegation to Indonesia and Singapore for Educational Exchanges
May 27, 2025

On the occasion of the 75th anniversary of China-Indonesia diplomatic relations and the 35th anniversary of China-Singapore diplomatic relations, and as higher education institutions jointly chart a new blueprint for the Belt and Road Initiative, President Wei Wei of Guizhou Education university led a delegation to Indonesia and Singapore from May 19 to 24 to strengthen international collaboration, expand overseas educational resources, and enhance the university’s global competitiveness. The delegation visited educational institutions including the Educator Vocational Development Center of Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology of Indonesia, Indonesia National Institute of the Arts (ISI Yogyakarta), Singapore Hanbridge School, ERC Institute of Singapore, Nanyang Polytechnic, and the National University of Singapore (NUS). The visit resulted in the signing of two MOUs and the achievement of multiple collaborative initiatives. Accompanying the delegation were Du Hongbo, Director of the Academic Affairs Office; Zhang Bin, Director of the International Office; Shen Hujun, Director of Guizhou Provincial Key Laboratory of Computational Nano-Material Science; and Luo Yong, Vice Dean of the School of Foreign Languages.

In Indonesia, the delegation visited the Educator Vocational Development Center of Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology of Indonesia, Jakarta’s Muhammadiyah University, and ISI Yogyakarta. Dr. Sugito Adi Warsito, Head of the Educator Vocational Development Center, warmly welcomed the delegation and outlined plans for collaboration, leveraging our university’s “Chinese Language Education Base” to promote teacher training and student exchanges. At Muhammadiyah University, Vice President Dr. Muhammad Hadi expressed interest in discipline-specific partnerships, faculty-student exchanges, and joint research platforms, with plans to utilize the China-ASEAN Education Exchange Week for further projects. At ISI Yogyakarta, President Timboel Rihadar engaged in in-depth discussions with the delegation. Building on prior interactions between ISI Yogyakarta and our university’s School of Music and Dance—including joint lectures and concerts—the two universities formally signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to deepen cooperation in arts, humanities, and design.

In Singapore, the delegation visited Hanbridge School, ERC Institute, Nanyang Polytechnic, and NUS. At Hanbridge School, President Maggie Xia highlighted potential collaborations in faculty training, student exchanges, and academic advancement, culminating in the signing of an MOU. ERC Institute’s President Makino Satoru proposed partnerships in short-term study programs and student upskilling. During the visit to Nanyang Polytechnic, Business Development Manager Joe Chew introduced Singapore’s higher education system and international student recruitment, with both sides agreeing to explore collaborations in STEM disciplines, faculty exchanges, and joint research platforms. At NUS, the delegation toured the campus and met with our university’s visiting scholars and postgraduate students. President Wei Wei encouraged researchers to maximize their learning opportunities at NUS and achieve impactful academic outcomes with the university’s support.

The six-day visit yielded substantial results, aligning with our university’s mission to strengthen its “applied, teacher-training, and open” educational framework. The collaborations will broaden international partnerships, enhance global influence, and foster innovation in teaching and research.
