Recently, all 9 students from our university's 2025 Thailand Ministry of Education internship program have successfully arrived in Thailand.
They are about to commence nearly a year of international Chinese teaching internship work. This internship team consists of students from the School of Literature and Media, School of Music and Dance, School of Foreign Languages, School of Business, and School of History and Archives. They will be dispatched to various regions in Thailand to provide high-quality Chinese education for local students.
To ensure the smooth implementation of the internship, our university initiated project planning in March. After going through rigorous processes of application, review, selection, and pre-departure training, nine students with solid academic knowledge and outstanding overall qualities were ultimately chosen to participate in this internship. Upon their arrival in Thailand, the interns were warmly welcomed by the Thailand Ministry of Education and the internship schools. This trip also marks the 50th anniversary of China-Thailand diplomatic relations. Representing our university, the interns presented a large paper-cutting scroll titled "Celebrating the 50th Anniversary of China-Thailand Diplomatic Relations," created by Professor Shen Lil from the School of Education and her student team, to the Thailand Ministry of Education. This gift symbolizes our university's sincere anticipation and best wishes for continued educational cooperation between the two nations, hoping to jointly compose more chapters of educational exchange.
Prior to departure, Mr. Zhang Fan, a teacher from the Thailand Ministry of Education, conducted an online session to introduce Thai daily etiquette, social manners, and key taboos in detail. He also provided in-depth explanations on teaching overviews, classroom organization, and post-class assessment. The training placed special emphasis on safety and health issues, including personal safety, financial security, traffic safety, water safety, and disease prevention. He reminded the students to enhance their awareness of safety while abroad, abide by local laws and regulations, and actively adapt to the new environment.
Offline, our university arranged a series of pre-departure training sessions with rich content and diverse formats. Professor Xu Wang from the School of Literature and Media delivered a teaching skills training session. Drawing on her teaching experience, she shared effective teaching methods, techniques for integrating folk culture into classrooms, and past students' demonstration teaching videos, providing practical case-based guidance. Xu Wang particularly highlighted that close collaboration with local teachers is crucial for improving teaching effectiveness in international teaching settings. Mr. Xiang Chenhui from the International Exchange and Collaboration Office conducted comprehensive pre-departure safety education. He emphasized the importance of safety for the students while in Thailand, urged them to comply with local laws, regulations, and school rules, and encouraged them to follow the examples of outstanding former interns. He advised the students to set clear goals, cherish this opportunity, focus on teamwork, and ensure the successful completion of their internship tasks.
Since its launch in 2014, the Chinese teaching internship project in collaboration with the Thailand Ministry of Education has been highly valued by the university's Party committee and administration, and has received strong support from various university departments and secondary colleges. It has since become one of the university's signature overseas programs. Through years of practice and refinement, the project has developed a well-structured international talent cultivation model characterized by strong practicality, high safety standards, sound systems, and standardized procedures. The outstanding performance of former interns in Thailand has earned widespread acclaim. Their overseas internship experiences have enhanced their cross-cultural communication skills, broadened their international horizons, and strengthened their overall practical abilities.
Selecting students for internships in ASEAN countries is a key strategy of our university to advance international talent cultivation and serve national strategies. Moving forward, the university will continue to strengthen its ties with Thailand and other "Belt and Road" countries, providing students with more high-quality overseas practice opportunities to boost the quality of talent development.
