From July 3rd to 11th, 2025, Zhang Jinyang from the College of Foreign Studies and Yu Ya from the College of Mathematics and Big Data represented our university at the 2025 Sustainable Development Student Leaders Forum in Singapore, which focused on the theme "Empowering Social Health and Well-being." This forum brought together young representatives from universities worldwide, providing a significant platform for cross-cultural exchange in the field of sustainable development.
Over the nine-day event, the two students deeply engaged in global dialogues on health and well-being through various formats including thematic seminars, corporate visits, and volunteer activities, achieving notable results. During the opening "National Sharing Session," Zhang Jinyang vividly illustrated the "China Speed" and spirit of unity demonstrated during the flood relief efforts in Rongjiang, Guizhou, giving international participants a concrete understanding of Chinese societal cohesion. In breakout discussions on hot topics such as "Artificial Intelligence and Sustainable Development" and "Youth's Innovative Practices in the Low-Carbon Transition," both students actively shared practical cases of Chinese youth in sustainable development, while also learning from cutting-edge international experiences, contributing diverse perspectives through cross-cultural collaboration. During corporate visits, the students gained insights into Singapore's advanced and humanized elderly care system. Zhang Jinyang visited a restaurant operated by individuals with disabilities, witnessing its positive model of breaking prejudices and giving back to the community. Additionally, both participants took part in a volunteer activity at Gardens by the Bay organized by a Singaporean youth group, putting the concept of public service into action. At the forum's closing ceremony, Yu Ya appeared dressed in a Chinese qipao, showcasing the unique charm of traditional Chinese culture to the international youth, marking a highlight of cultural exchange. Both students expressed their intention to translate what they learned at the forum into practical impetus for local development, contributing to the promotion of health equity in both urban and rural areas of Guizhou.
This international exchange activity not only demonstrated our students' cross-cultural communication skills and sense of responsibility but also, through the deep involvement of the youth representatives, introduced international experiences and innovative ideas for the practical implementation of sustainable development in Guizhou. The university remains committed to cultivating high-quality talents with a global perspective. This event is an important achievement in promoting international exchange and cooperation and enhancing students' global competence. It also built a youth bridge connecting Guizhou to global sustainable development practices.
