On the morning of July 27th, Mr. Suthep Kaengsanthia, Permanent Secretary of the Thai Ministry of Education, led a delegation on an educational exchange visit to our university. A symposium was grandly held in the Shanshui Lecture Hall of the university's Yinshan Academy. Our university's President, Wang Shuqian, along with University Party Committee Member and Vice President, Chen Zhenbo, accompanied by leaders from relevant departments including the Party and Administration Office, International Office, Business School, College of Literature and Media, College of Foreign Studies, College of Music and Dance, College of History and Archives, and College of Education Science, warmly received the distinguished guests from afar. The meeting was presided over by Chen Zhenbo.
In a warm welcome speech, President Wang Shuqian sincerely thanked the Thai Ministry of Education for its long-standing strong support and concern for the program, and fondly recalled the over-decade-long cooperation between Guizhou Education University and the Thai Ministry of Education. "Since the program's inception in 2014, this sapling of cooperation has, under the careful nurturing of both sides, grown into a shining example in the field of overseas educational cooperation in our province," stated Wang Shuqian. She introduced that the program has established an international talent cultivation model characterized by "strong practicality, high safety standards, sound systems, and standardized procedures." Successive cohorts of intern teachers from our university have performed excellently in their teaching positions in Thailand, earning high praise from partner schools, students, and the local community thanks to their solid professional foundation, strong professional ethics, and positive learning attitude. This has significantly enhanced the students' language application and cross-cultural communication skills and broadened their international perspectives. She pointed out that this decade coincides with the "golden decade" of thriving Sino-Thai relations, and the jointly cultivated "Chinese Teaching Internship Program" has borne brilliant fruits, becoming a "bridge connecting hearts" between the two peoples. She eagerly anticipates jointly innovating new directions for the program's development and broadening new paths for Sino-Thai educational and cultural exchanges.
In his address, Permanent Secretary Suthep Kaengsanthia thanked our university for the warm reception and expressed high recognition for the achievements of the decade-long cooperation. The Permanent Secretary fully affirmed the dedication and contribution of our university's interns in the Thai education sector. He looked forward to further expanding the areas and elevating the level of cooperation on this solid foundation, working together to cultivate more outstanding talents, deepen Sino-Thai people-to-people exchanges, and contribute to educational cooperation within the "Belt and Road" initiative and the building of a closer China-ASEAN community with a shared future.
During the symposium, representatives from both sides held fruitful discussions on future cooperation directions. To express sincere gratitude for the long-term support of the Thai Ministry of Education and to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Thailand, our university specially prepared a heartfelt gift—a long paper-cutting scroll meticulously crafted by teachers and students from the College of Education Science. On behalf of the university, President Wang Shuqian presented this artwork, symbolizing Sino-Thai friendship and cultural integration, to the Thai Ministry of Education.
Following the symposium, leaders from both sides and attending guests moved outside the venue for a group photo and a campus tour, eternally capturing this historic moment filled profound friendship and bright vision.
The successful visit of Permanent Secretary Suthep Kaengsanthia and his delegation has injected new vitality into the long-term friendly cooperation between our university and the Thai Ministry of Education. Standing at the new starting point of the 50th anniversary of Sino-Thai diplomatic relations, both sides will continue to work hand-in-hand, using education as a bond to deepen people-to-people exchanges, promote mutual benefit and win-win outcomes, and jointly compose a new chapter in Sino-Thai educational cooperation and friendly exchanges.
