On the morning of August 25, 2025, former Vice Minister of Culture and Tourism Xiang Zhaolun and his delegation visited our university for guidance and a lecture. Wang Shuqian, President of Guizhou Education University, and Luo Guangjie, Member of the University Party Committee and Vice President, accompanied the delegation on a visit to the Guizhou Education History Museum and the Innovation and Entrepreneurship College.
Subsequently, a thematic symposium on "Practices in Intangible Cultural Heritage Protection in China and Prospects for ICH Discipline Construction" was held in the Shanshui Lecture Hall of Yinshan Academy. The meeting was chaired by Luo Guangjie. Attendees included representatives from the University Party and Administration Office and the Scientific Research Office, the heads of the College of Tourism and Culture, the College of Fine Arts and Design, the College of Mathematics and Big Data, the College of History and Archives, and the University Science Park, faculty representatives from the ICH research team, as well as student representatives.
During the symposium, three teachers from the Guizhou Education University ICH research team—Nie Sen, Wang Ming, and Sang Haiwei—introduced the university's explorations and achievements in ICH research, utilization, platform development, and digitalization, showcasing numerous practical cases of ICH entering the classroom and reaching the market.
In his speech, former Vice Minister Xiang Zhaolun systematically elaborated on his profound insights regarding ICH protection and discipline construction. He pointed out that ICH protection should be based on three key areas: theory, policy, and modernity. He emphasized that theoretical research is fundamental for clarifying ICH concepts, protection principles, and transmission mechanisms; policy research requires in-depth interpretation of protection guidelines, principles, and implementation pathways to support scientific decision-making; and research on modernity should focus on the integration of ICH with contemporary society, exploring innovative expressions and dissemination methods for ICH in modern life. Regarding discipline construction and talent cultivation, he proposed building an interdisciplinary and practice-oriented ICH teaching system to cultivate professionals who are well-versed in theory, possess practical skills, and combine cultural sensibility with a modern vision, thereby supplying solid talent for ICH protection efforts and management work.
This symposium provided important ideas for the construction path of ICH disciplines and protection practices, injecting new momentum for Guizhou Education University to further deepen ICH education and research.
