University of Roehampton Delegation Visits Guizhou Education University

News, April 7 – A four-member delegation from the University of Roehampton (UK), led by Kaka Huang, Director for East and Southeast Asia of the Recruitment and International Development Department, visited Guizhou Education University on April 7. Wang Shuqian, President of the university; Zhao Shouying, member of the Standing Committee of the University Party Committee and Vice President(Director-General); and heads of relevant departments and schools warmly received the guests.

The delegation first visited the School of Music and Dance, where they enjoyed a Miao ethnic dance performance by students, followed by a discussion in the school’s meeting room. Zhang Bin, Director of the International Office, and Li Pei, Secretary of the Party Committee of School of Music and Dance, attended the meeting. Li Pei extended a warm welcome, briefly introduced the school’ s development, and expressed the hope of deepening cooperation and building a platform for faculty and student exchanges. Kaka Huang presented the University of Roehampton’s internationalization strategy and its distinctive strengths in arts education. Both sides engaged in in-depth discussions on areas including Chinese-foreign cooperative education, academic visits, and arts practice projects, reaching multiple cooperation consensuses. Professor Lalitaraja Chandler from Roehampton then held a special workshop for Dance Department faculty and students. Combining theory with artistic practice, he guided participants to break through conventional thinking and explore diverse expressions of dance art. Attendees said the workshop was cutting-edge and inspiring, offering fresh perspectives for professional growth.

The delegation later visited the School of Literature and Communication, where they were warmly received by Yang Bo, the Dean of School of Literature and Communication, Gao Yuan, Secretary of the Party Committee of School of Literature and Communication, and Deputy Dean Yang Yang. During the meeting, Yang Bo introduced the school’ s disciplinary structure, educational characteristics, and recent international exchange achievements. Professor Ping Shum spoke highly of the school’s educational philosophy and disciplinary layout and shared Roehampton’s international resources and project experience in media education. The two sides focused on joint training programs at the undergraduate and master’s levels, faculty academic visits, and short-term study programs, reaching preliminary cooperation intentions. Yang Bo stated that the school would actively promote deeper alignment with the University of Roehampton.

The visit laid a solid foundation for in-depth cooperation between the two universities in the arts, humanities, and media education, marking a shift from intent to substantive progress.
