Recently, the Ministry of Education officially approved the establishment of the Sino-Italian College of Innovative Design and Technology at Guizhou Education University — a Sino-foreign cooperative education institution with non-independent legal status jointly run by Guizhou Education University and Istituto Pantheon Design & Technology, Italy. This marks a significant milestone in the university's internationalization efforts and represents a major achievement in our province's efforts to promote the opening up of education in the fields of art, design, and technology, as well as to deepen the integration and development of Sino-foreign educational cooperation.
As the first Sino-foreign cooperative education institution approved for Guizhou Education University, the establishment of the Guizhou Education University Sino-Italian College of Innovative Design and Technology represents a vivid practice of the university's thorough implementation of the national strategy for opening up education to the world. It also marks an important achievement in deepening practical cooperation and promoting resource sharing between the two institutions. Istituto Pantheon Design & Technology, a renowned institution in European design education, boasts profound experience and distinctive strengths in areas such as innovative design, digital technology, and the integration of art. Its expertise aligns closely with Guizhou Education University's focus on cultivating application-oriented talents and developing academic disciplines, creating a highly complementary relationship between the two institutions.
Since the launch of the application process, the university's Party Committee and administrative leadership have attached great importance to it. They established a leading group for the Sino-foreign cooperative education application to provide overall coordination and deployment. Led by the Office of International Exchange and Cooperation, the group has closely collaborated with the College of Fine Arts and Design as well as various relevant departments to set up a dedicated task force. With united efforts and determination to overcome challenges, the team went through multiple rounds of deliberation, meticulous refinement of application materials, and rigorous review and defense sessions, successfully completing all application tasks. As a result, the university has achieved a historic breakthrough — from having "zero" to having "one" Sino-foreign cooperative education institution.
The college will focus on three core areas: innovative design, digital technology, and cultural creativity. Leveraging the high-quality educational resources of both institutions, it will introduce Italy's advanced educational philosophies, curriculum systems, and faculty. The college will adopt a "4+0" education model as its primary approach, supplemented by flexible exchange programs. The first cohort will offer three undergraduate majors: Fine Arts (major code: 130401H), Public Art (major code: 130506H), and Digital Media Art (major code: 130508H). The college is committed to cultivating high-level, application-oriented talents who possess local commitment, international vision, innovative thinking, and practical skills — providing talent support and intellectual assurance for the upgrading of the design industry and the development of the digital economy in Guizhou and the broader western region.
This approval marks the official entry of Guizhou Education University into a new stage of scaled, systematic, and high-quality internationalization in its educational endeavors. In the future, the university will take the Sino-Italian College of Innovative Design and Technology as a key platform, strictly implement the educational requirements set forth by the Ministry of Education, uphold the fundamental mission of fostering virtue and cultivating talent, standardize educational management, deepen connotative development, and strive to become a model benchmark for Sino-foreign cooperative education. The university will continue to deepen its comprehensive cooperation with Istituto Pantheon Design & Technology, expanding cooperation across multiple dimensions — including faculty and student exchanges, joint research initiatives, and technology transfer — thereby enhancing the quality and efficiency of its open education. This will further contribute to advancing the internationalization of higher education in Guizhou and supporting the region's high-quality economic and social development!
We hereby share this joyful news to inspire further progress!
