On the morning of July 29, the 2026 China-ASEAN Education Cooperation Week was inaugurated at its permanent venue in Gui'an New Area, Guiyang. Zhan Yong, Secretary of the Party Committee of our university, and Wang Shuqian, President of the university, attended the opening ceremony.
Under the theme of "Enabling Smart Education to Better Support the Building of a Friendly Home", this year's event adopts the mode of "centralized activities during the opening session + regular year-round implementation", aiming to build a high-level platform for educational and people-to-people cultural cooperation between China and ASEAN.
At the ceremony, a series of key China-ASEAN education cooperation projects were officially released. As a landmark achievement of this year's Education Cooperation Week, the China-ASEAN College of Innovation and Entrepreneurship was formally established, with its plaque unveiled by the Organizing Committee of the China-ASEAN Education Cooperation Week. Initiated by the Secretariat of the China-ASEAN Education Cooperation Week, the College is led in its operation by Guizhou Education University, and jointly built by 10 founding member institutions from mainland China, Hong Kong, Macao and overseas, including Central China Normal University, Sichuan University, Baotou Normal College, University of Saint Joseph Macau, and Dhurakij Pundit University of Thailand. The joint unveiling at the opening ceremony marked the official launch of a brand-new international platform for innovation and entrepreneurship education oriented to ASEAN countries. Going forward, the College will develop into an international innovation and entrepreneurship education complex integrating talent cultivation, curriculum development, scientific research cooperation, innovation practice and people-to-people exchanges.
Our university has long been deeply engaged in China-ASEAN educational exchanges and cooperation. Leveraging the platform of the China-ASEAN Education Cooperation Week, we have continuously hosted a portfolio of events including ASEAN College Students Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competitions, University Presidents Forums, cross-border study tours and faculty exchange programs, yielding fruitful outcomes in school operation in ASEAN countries, international student education, and international innovation and entrepreneurship education. Taking the lead in establishing the China-ASEAN College of Innovation and Entrepreneurship is a key initiative for our university to proactively serve China's opening-up strategy and deliver on the overall arrangements of the 2026 China-ASEAN Education Cooperation Week.
Moving forward, the university will give full play to its strengths as a normal university and its regional geographical advantages, coordinate resources among co-constructing partner universities, improve the regular collaborative operation mechanism, and roll out a steady stream of programs such as cross-border innovation and entrepreneurship training, joint scientific research projects, youth innovation competitions, and ASEAN teacher-student exchange programs. Taking innovation and entrepreneurship education as a bond, we will strengthen people-to-people bonds between Chinese and ASEAN youth, and provide talent support and intellectual guarantee for building a closer China-ASEAN Community with a Shared Future and advancing regional economic and social development.
